2025-2026 Leadership
Tonya has served in the League for over 20 years. In her 20+ year service, she has served on the board 5 times and on the management council twice. She has held the position of Chair for the Fund Development Committee, served as a committee member for Whale of a Sale, Kids in the Kitchen, and communications. She has served as a Chair or Vice-Chair for the Endowment Fund, Fund Development Committee, and a New Member Advisor and served twice as the VP of Communications. Because of her service to the League, she brings a wealth of institutional knowledge about JLJax and the impact we have had throughout the years.
Tonya embodies the definition of “Silent Leader”. She observes, seeks to understand and empathizes to guide the team to success. She seeks a solution to a problem with a thorough thought process and not one that is made in haste. She is motivated by the productivity of her team and not her own ambition and rejoices in her team’s success.
Because most of her “league career” has been focused on fundraising, she continues to brainstorm ideas for fundraising to increase donations. By serving as a leader for the Fund Development Committee she changed the way the “FUNdraising” committee operated. Instead of several small fundraisers, she helped implement Jockeys & Juleps and lead its success by increasing the revenue received from the fundraiser each year. She was tasked with changing the trajectory of the Whale of a Sale preview party and through the collaboration with other members, in 2018-2019 they did just that! That year the committees of Fund Development, Little Black Dress, and Whale of a Sale saw one of the most successful fundraising years and the image of the preview party was successfully changed.
At the request of the membership, she assisted in the creation of the program focusing on training, “L.E.A.D, Leadership, Education, and Development.” She has continued to mentor and train numerous members to succeed in their membership in the League and beyond. With strategic goals in mind, she successfully implemented changes in our nominating committee.
She is not only a member of the Junior League, but is a past president of the First Coast Chapter of the Paralegal Association of Florida, currently serves as the Second Vice President, has served as the Second Vice President for the state board of the Paralegal Association of Florida, has served on the paralegal enrichment committee with the Florida Bar and is currently serving as the Vice-Chair for Social Media for Florida Registered Paralegals with The Florida Bar.
Her mentorship does not stop with the League. She currently volunteers with an animal rescue organization and assists them with their fundraising efforts. She is an active advocate for animals at risk of euthanasia and is an approved foster.
While Tonya’s focus throughout the years has been in fundraising, her main focus is on mentoring members and developing connections. She is a tireless advocate for our League. She believes in the opportunities we present to our members and is constantly learning and seeking ways in which the League can be more successful and impactful.
Tonya has been a mentor to many League members and is passionate about our members’ service to the Junior League and service to our First Coast community. She is committed to seeing the success of the Junior League of Jacksonville and is excited for the opportunity to serve with YOU to be the Change Makers for the 102nd year.
